COMPILE LATEX FILE IN TERMINAL INSTALL
This will prompt you for your password and install the latexmk package. The installation is simple, from the Terminal, type: sudo tlmgr install latexmk. bat file with the following code: Add the batch file as a run command: Now create a LaTeX file in Notepad++, Save and Run (using the short key defined). How Do I Open A Latex File The LaTeX source documents used by the TEX extension do not contain complex information, just plain text. Nothing to explain here, we need this to work. How do I compile LaTeX in Notepad++ LaTeX on Windows with MiKTeX and Notepad++. G:vimtex_view_automatic = 0 seems to work. When compiling filename, tex and output filename. And to reiterate, I don't know if this is something you want to workaround in vimtex, or just wait for the underlying bug to disappear. I don't know where the bug is exactly, or if it will be fixed or when. It seems obvious to me that vimtex isn't causing this bug, but rather vimtex is using some other functionality that is bugged. If you really want to I'm sure you can reproduce the issue without vimtex installed, by just doing :! xdg-open.
To reproduce all you should need to do in addition to the above prerequisites is install neovim, install vimtex (I used vim-plug), and compile any latex file in to a pdf. I'm using Windows Terminal, however I've confirmed the bug in Powershell and Command Prompt as well. I also dont know if this is something that warrants a fix. So I dont know if there is something to be done about how vimtex opens the preview window. It doesnt happen if you do :term xdg-open file.pdf. The issue can be reproduced by simply running :! xdg-open file.pdf in neovim. As in the original neovim issue I linked (#15734) the root cause seems to be the xdg-open command breaking nvim.
